Final Chapter of Davis Tales

Saturday morning dawned bright and sunny and we all headed off to the zoo. Davis was in his stroller as long as we moved fast and got out for the Sea Lion show. He seemed to enjoy the animals as they were very close to us. Jenny had to hold on for dear life to keep him on our side of the fence instead of tumbling over onto the head of one of the sea lions. After awhile the stairs called to him and he was thrilled to climb to the top with Daddy and then insisted that Mommy go with him as well. After the show we started walking down the path. I mean the grownups did. Davis started running. And kept running. He never trips and falls and just runs with wild abandon. At occasional intervals we would stop to see animals, but his attention was claimed by climbing on the rocks that serve as benches. Then we are off running again. We circled the entire Africa end and were pretty hot and tired. Davis kept chugging down water from his sippy cup and then would start up running and yelling with delight as he went. Finally the water caught up with him and his diaper over floweth and his shorts were soaked. New diapers were in the car and he started to express his fatigue by squinting his eyes and whining. We finally made it to the car and pulled off the diaper. He scampered around the car and finally landed into a diaper while adjusting the radio and defroster. It was a pretty quiet ride home, a good lunch and then he crashed into bed a half hour early. 3 whooped grownups crashed, too. We drifted off to sleep with silly grins on our faces at the thought of that cute little puppy running at top speed all over the zoo. We can't decide between the Olympics or rock climbing as a career - probably both. We declared the day a success. After naps, D woke up and in 2 minutes flat had grabbed Mommy's hand to sit on the floor while he played next to her. He dives into play as if he has a long to- do list and is worried about getting it all done. Finally it was time to load the car and for Gramma Jean to leave. My boy tolerated a hug and a kiss from me, which is his usual and off I went with tears in my eyes and fond memories of the cutest kid this side of the Mississippi.

Just finished reading your final chapter. I've been following the progress. It's good to know there is another boy just like my Liam in the world.
