Easter Vacation

We have just had two weeks of bliss with kids and grandkids. Included were two trips to the magic house and Mills Mall, a visit to Chuck E. Cheese, the art and history museums, a visit from the Easter Bunny, lego creations, art projects, game playing and ping ponging. A great time was had by all.
The hide-a-bed got stuck half way in and half way out. Jenny and Eric ended up sleeping on the couch with nary a complaint. After they left Clyde got the idea to flip it on its front and see if we could find the problem. I had never moved it out and was semi horrified to see what lay beneath. I was grossed out by a lollipop stick with a small bit of candy still attached and covered in mold. I said, "Ooh, gross, a lollipop..." and Tate came running and hollering, "A lollipop! Where?". We all died laughing. He is our sugar boy and starts asking for candy minutes after breakfast. It is worse than Chinese water torture for his Mama who has to fend him off all day long. He was also willing to climb under and around my heavy immovable sectionals and was so disappointed when I would not let him eat the treasure-one Hershey kiss and a Starburst that had been there who knows how long. I was thrilled when he came up with the piece of the magna doodle that had been missing for a couple of years. Having a little kid around comes in handy! Tate was so sweet to say, "Two babies" when asked what was in Amy's belly. He cried and cried when she left and asked about her several times the next day. He is Grandma's "Sweet poTater Pie".

Annette is our grown up young lady but also has a great sense of humor like her Daddy and keeps us rolling in the aisles. Her story telling is incredible and she tells enough details to even keep Gramma Jean happy. And that is saying a lot!! Ha Ha!

James was so sweet with Davis. At church Davis would crawl over the bench to be with him, and when Davis started squawking James gently placed his hand over Davis' mouth to remind him to be quiet. James is a serious Wii player and complained of a sore shoulder from all the action.
Davis has perfected running and refrigerator reorganization. He had a love affair with my plastic Frosted Mini Wheats container and carried it all over the house. He would set it down, open the lid and have one or two to munch. He even held onto it when I changed his diaper. And he never spilled it. When frustrated, which is often, he would stomp his chubby feet and holler in protest. He has the most kissable chunky thighs and blows kisses with the best of them.When we opened the front door to hunt for Easter eggs, the big kids ran with their baskets and gathered the treasure. Davis just ran. He went as fast as he could back and forth and would not even glance at an egg or basket. Ah, freedom!
A real highlight was viewing video of Amy's ultrasounds of baby A and Baby B, and finding out that we are having boy and girl twins! We are all so excited. Annette has been the only girl for a long time and it is time for another grandaughter.
In one day we went from noisy glorious chaos to silence like a tomb. We do not transition well. I wanted to pick up the phone a billion times to hear their voices. But parents and kids are busy unpacking and getting back to life. And we are slowly trying to do the same. A house strewn with Lego's and Easter grass is just plain sad without the kids to go with it.
We are so blessed to have 6 fabulous children that we love dearly. We are proud of each and every one and they teach us so much. With 4 Grand kids and numbers 5 and 6 on the way, we exclaim, God has been very good to us!
